At the age of 32, I'm in the process of writing my statement of purpose for applications to doctorate programs.  It is hard to be be redefining myself at this point in life, as I feel I'm trying to go back to square one.  Sometimes I consider it a huge accomplishment to just remember to breathe.  So clearly, somewhere along the way I got off track.  I imagine, though, that nothing I've done or experienced in the meantime was a waste.  Every wrong thing is something to learn from, isn't it?
